The best part is that you don’t need to have passed an IPP2 course to rent a kayak from our rental service at Vigen Strandpark. However, it’s always at your own risk when you rent equipment from us, and you are responsible for assessing your own abilities and skills.

If you already know how to kayak and have either participated in our beginner kayak course, IPP2 kayak course, or have experience from elsewhere, our kayak rental is the perfect place for you. We have all the necessary gear for a wonderful trip on Roskilde Fjord. Our kayak rental operates during the summer months at Vigen Strandpark near Roskilde camping. While we don’t have fixed opening hours, if you reserve via online booking on our website, you can be sure that we’ll have the kayak ready for you. Remember to book your kayak at least 24 hours in advance. If it’s within 24 hours, you can call us at +45 5389 0585 to check if there are available kayaks.

If you’re a group interested in kayak rental in other parts of Skjoldungernes Land National Park, we can bring the kayaks to you. We also offer guided tours in other areas of the park. Feel free to contact us for more information.

There are quite many routes and spot to visit in  Skjoldungernes land nationalpark. It’s always possible to find shelter from either east or west winds. If the wind is coming from the north, you should be a bit more cautious than in most other places in the fjord. Kattinge Vig is also a great spot for a kayak trip. There’s good shelter in most areas and lovely places to land. The wind usually determines where it’s best to paddle. Our instructors are always ready with helpful advice and recommendations

Weather plays a significant role in your kayaking experience. If the wind exceeds 7 m/s, we do not rent out our kayaks unless you are an experienced IPP3 kayaker. If you’ve booked a rental and the wind is too strong on the day, your reservation will be canceled for your safety, and there will be no cost to you. If you’re unsure, feel free to give us a call at 53 89 05 85

All seasons are suitable for kayaking. However, it requires preparation and experience if you want to kayak year-round. In general, the water should be at least 12 degrees Celsius if you’re going kayaking without wearing a lot of gear. If the temperature is below 5 degrees Celsius, you should only go if you’re experienced and have the right equipment. As with any water activity, good preparation and the right gear are essential. That said, fantastic experiences await in Nationalpark Skjoldungernes Land throughout all seasons. We only rent kayaks between April 15th and September 15th

Bring your own suitable equipment, if you have it, and wear clothing that allows you to move freely. Also, consider bringing a change of clothes, as you might need it. If you’re renting a wetsuit, wear swimwear underneath, and it’s a good idea to have a towel handy as well

  • Payment is required for the entire rental period before using the equipment.
  • Photo identification must be presented at the start of the rental period.
  • The renter is obligated to replace any damaged or lost equipment.
  • It is the renter’s responsibility to use the equipment correctly and follow safe practices on the water.
  • Renters are personally responsible for theft insurance.
  • As a renter, you are responsible for assessing your own abilities, health, and swimming skills. If there are doubts, we will decline your request for your safety.
  • The equipment should be returned in a clean condition1.
